Hi guys, I was wondering if this image I took of my friend is considered sharp. I used a F1.8 Fstop (keep in mind that some parts of the image is probaly out of focus before of the low fstop), hand helpd, and I forgot what the shutter speed was.

I was trying to focus on his right eye/lens

Thanks,

The EXIF data I got from your shot says that it was taken at f/2.5 and 1/400 seconds, not at f/1.8.

It's very sharp though...it looks like you focused on his left noisepiece.

did you apply any sharpening to this picture?

How do u find the Exif data?

No sharpening was done. The only thing I did was played with the histograms and made it B/W

It looks very sharp to me. It looks like he's wearing hard contact lenses. :)

Doesn't look too bad to me... I just did some product shots at a Gelato restaraunt and mainly used the nifty 50... It's a great little lens (even though I have the Mk2) Here's an example, note that it has NOT been USM'd and is straight from the camera. I shot RAW+M(fine) and this is the M jpg image. I loved the lack of shadows for a shot out in the open.

It's pretty large... so check the ice cream cup at bottom right....

How do u find the Exif data? Most photo editing and/or viewing programs will let you see this. The Eos Viewer Utility, for one, will. In WXP you can also right-click the photo in Windows Explorer, choose "Properties", the "Summary" tab, then "Advanced" to see the standard EXIF fields.

It looks sharp to me, at lest on the bridge of the glasses then falls off with the DOF, but still looks ok. Shooting that wide open the amout of depth of field will be limited but that can quite often make the photograph.

Nice shot, looks good in black and white
