Alienbees Softboxes: Your experience

I have one of those (the middle one in their line up). It's worked well for me and seems to be constructed well. I have no complaints but then, it's the only softbox I've ever worked with so I have nothing to really compare it with. It's a lot sturdier than my umbrellas, brolly boxes and Photek Softlighter, that's for use. :)

I have owned them and there great , at my work also a studio we have calument ones and there great to. I love AB products so have no worrys

No real issues to date.
I have their large rectangle and the large foldable octa w/grid.

I have there large Rectanglular one, i like only found it to be alittle heavy.

I think the large AB octa is 47", which really isn't all that big. I would've went with the larger Photoflex octa, but I wanted to stay within a budget. I must say, the foldable aspect is pretty darn nice.

They make decent, usable stuff - just built a little cheaply. No reason you can't or shouldn't use their stuff though. While I went with PhotoFlex SBs, I'm using AB grids with them. PhotoFlex makes better stuff, IMO. But from there it's a sharp curve - Chimera makes excellent stuff, but $300+ for a single grid? Unless you shoot professsionally in a studio day in and day out, save your money.
