I have a new Powershot S70. Takes wonderful images. But the thing went crazy. Autorotate is "On". After rotating verticle shots as it should, the camera suddenly decided to invert images and/or not rotate them. Looking at the little sensor icon on the LCD, sometimes it rotates from horizontal to verticle, sometimes not. A little tap usually gets it into action. Has anyone seen this? It is not normal and I'll contact Canon tech. More after that.

Try restoring the camera to "default" settings and see what happens.

Does this carry through to viewing them on the computer as well, and stay with the individual pictures (if it initially was inverted, it remains inverted)? If so, it sounds like the camera's orientation sensor (the rattle so many have asked about) is getting stuck, and when you tap it, it's getting knocked free again. If it's still under warranty, definitely send it back. If not, you might just want to turn it off and live with it. You'd probably have to pay $100 or so to have it fixed.
