I'm looking for a decent telephoto around 400mm for my 10D. I currently have a 70-210 that I use most of the time. My question is how much quality will I lose by adding a 2x converter to that lense as opposed to buying something like a 200-400. I know I'll be losing a few stops, but that's not an issue as I wont be using the setup in low light. Mostly motorsports photography from a short distance during the day. Ideally I'd like a 500 or bigger, but the budget doesn't allow for that right about now.
