Macro shot w/ EF-S 18-55??

Isn't is supposed to be true that the EF-S can do macro? I know it can focus from about 6inches away but this is as close as I could get last night. Shot @ 55mm, f/5.6, tV 1/2 sec, iso 1600 and no flash. Anyone else been able to get any closer with theirs?

Shot that with the kit, plus a few close up filters. Came out OK, as the rose was about the size of a quarter.

If you look on the side of the lens it has the macro symbol with the lettering 0.28m/0.9ft. This is the minimum focus distance, about 11 inches.
