Humor is what allows the living to cope, but it's only useful for those who manage to escape relatively intact.

Having been there, Leela and I wish everyone affected by this tragedy as much comfort and aid and love as they can find. We saw many acts of kindness and of infinite sadness. The experience was a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of those close to us.

"More news and pictures later" as they say.

Take care,

Don

Don, I don't know you, and never interacted with you, but I'd like to let you know that you're definitely in my prayers.

My friend and his girlfriend were visiting Thailand and staying on the beach [I believe] and I have yet to hear from him. He has yet to respond to his emails, and from what I understand, he has not contacted any of our friends.

I really am hoping that he made it out ok, and fear what may have happened to him. I just pray that he is not part of the 44,000+ to have lost his life.

Be grateful that you're still standing, and I applaud you for your words of care and concern.

God bless,

Joe

This literally made the hair on my arms raise up. I am so sorry. I have friends on holiday in Malaysia. I have heard from them and they are ok.

Hi Joe,

There was no electricity and no telephone communications of any kind, including mobile, when we were there, so there's every chance that your friends are fine but just can't tell you. Phuket Airport was totally out of commission (and the bridge between Khao Lak and Phuket was down, in any case), so we had to drive 10 hours to reach Bangkok and we flew out of there today. Even on the trip to Bangkok, we didn't have mobile connects for several hours and when we were able to get a signal, all the networks were jammed.

Our best wishes to you and your friends. I hope they have the happy ending that we did..

Don,

I'm pretty new to this forums, but I'm glad you are with safe and you have the time to post letting us know you are ok and telling us about this tragedy yourself.

Best wishes.

Amazing. Abosolutly amazing. I try to use that word only when applicable. The birth of my children was amazing. The fact that you are here, alive, and have photos......... absolutely amazing.

You and Leela were in my prayers. God, I feel so relieved. I can only imagine how you feel.

So glad to see at least a few more peoples lives spared. :)

Just lucky I guess, you were eating breakfast at the time, and had the warning which many people just never had.

Take a good sleep, you two deserve it.

We can wait patiently for photos. Anyway, I'm working for next 9 hours. :p

very tragic things have happened, and I doubt many of us here sitting confortably in our warm homes understand the gravity of the things that are happening. I for one couldn't imagine.

I am glad you're safe Don, sorry for your breakfast :)
