This is what turns out to be my first post on this forum, so basically it's a big Hello to everyone of you on here and at the same time a little get-to-know-me post.

I've been saving up money for quite a while now, my plan was to buy a car in the end of next summer. Well, it is Christmas holidays, and I have been working hard for the past year so I decided to award myself with a new digital camera.
I made my decision on what to buy pretty face, but I did however do a lot of research before actually purchasing the product.

I ended up with the Canon Powershot S1 IS. For me it's the perfect camera; It's fairly easy to use, yet it doesn't feel like a camera made stricktly for amateurs. I'm no professional, photographing is only a hobby for me for now, but who knows. I've taken photos all my life and I've always liked it, but I've never had the proper equipment. I feel that I do now ;)

Anyway, if anybody else owns the same camera and/or has something to say about it, positive or negative, feel free to do so.

I'm going to play with my new toy now :)

I wish I'd bought that camera. I would have saved about $12,000. :-(

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome, Youngster!

That's an excellent camera with which to learn, create and have fun. Keep us updated on your progress. In the future, when you inevitably switch to a digital SLR, we'll be very happy to tell you how to spend your money.

Thanks!

Yeah, basically all I want from this camera is to welcome me in to the world of digital photographing. It will mostly be used to shoot pictures of relatives and houses etc, pictures to save for the future. But I will most deifinitely explore every option and setting on this camera, and I will try to take as good pictures as this camera will allow. I hope that it will inspire me enough to eventually upgrade to an even better camera, but I'm sure this will last for a year or four ;)

If not for else, then for the fact that I simply haven't got the money. Heck, I didn't even have the money for this one :)
