Hi,
I'm really new to all this, and this is probably a dumm question:
I just purchased a Canon A 95, which works perfectly but when I download the pictures on my iMac, iPhoto immediately opens up and forces me to import the pics in jpg at 180dpi.
How can I have my pics imported straight to Photoshop, so I can choose the format and the resolution?
thanks for any advice
Happy Holidays to all

If you're using OS X you can set the computer to automatically open Photoshop when you connect the camera by clicking Go -> Applications, then open "Image Capture". If you don't have the camera connected, you'll get a box telling you so, just ignore it and go to the Image Capture menu at the top and click "preferences". Choose the application you want to open when the computer detects an imaging device. You can also set to open no application, then open whatever you like when the camera is connected.

That's works, thanks for the advice: when I connect now the camera, photoshop opens immediately, but I can't import any image from the camera!!!
As far as I understand, I need the TWAIN system installed in oder to use photoshop to import digital pics, but I cannot do so as the Canon A 95 has TWAIN available only for windows...
does anyone know how I can solve that problem???
thanks

How about by-passing the camera completely, and just use a card reader. I'm not familiar with Macs, so I can't say how/where to install TWAIN drivers, but an inexpensive card reader should solve your problem, at least temporarilly until you can find a camera to Mac solution. I have XP, and never connect my camera to the computer. I just find the card reader easier. good luck.

What version of PS are you running? I've not heard of this issue with the newer versions...
A card reader would definitely solve any driver issues that PS might have, and you would be able to bring them over with no problem.

I'm not using an Apple, but with my card reader, I can drag and drop an exact copy of the photo on the CF card into the computer. At that point I would think that you should be able to open the image with any software you wish with no loss of image quality.
