If so, why did you pick it over the other Swiss brand? I was looking at some prices on B&H, and the Broncolor kits really woke me up, price-wise! :D

Hi Rudi,I've only looked at and admired Broncolor in a few stores and seen them in use on the Dean Collins DVD's. I'm not sure what would make somoene pick them and choose to pay significantly more money than other Swiss or Genman strobes but I would love to know.

From my limited use of Broncolor strobes. I dont know what unit I was using(it was at the school I was attending gear)

2 flash tubes in each head using a differant charge. So they alternate firing so you can do faster bursts.

The ability to dial in a color temperature(Thats right, you can adjust the color temp with a dial on some models).

Brons modifiers are to Elinchrom, what Elinchrom is to Alien Bee.

Bron Has an umbrella type modifier that cost $9000, it makes a type of light that is really amazing.

Bron lights are going to be used mostly by Large fashion studios and Add studios because of thier unique modifiers and there fast speeds and the ability to totaly control every aspect of how the strobe functions.

I worked for two years in a studio filled with Broncolor. Their color consistency and output takes precision to a whole new level. THe lighting modifiers provide extremely even and beautiful coverage. They are extremely well built and easy to use. THe modifers and accessories always feel firm when attached, the lighting systems are very sturdy. PHysically, they are beautiful to look at...that may sound frivolous but image is a lot in a photo studio that charges huge day rates I shoot Elinchrom mainly because of my years using Broncolor. A lot of Elinchrom's products comes close to consistency and light quality of Bron but at a fraction of the price. Broncolor is better, but there are diminishing returns for the difference in price. It was a great experience using thme for so long...cuz now I have a reference of what good lighting is supposed to look like and can try and emulate it with less money :-) I think Broncolor is awesome for using single light sources...that's probably why a lot of fashion photographers are into them. I don't think it's practical to shoot Broncolor outside of a very large market where rental gear is unavailable. Just my opinion. I'd prefer to rent Broncolor for specific shoots on a specified basis...and keep Elinchroms/Profoto/Hensel etc for workhorse gear. Just an opinion
