Here are two photographs, both taken from the southern banks of the River Tyne, UK and both looking eastwards. The first was taken with my new 300D, earlier today, from the riverside at Hebburn, Tyne & Wear. The second was taken on 2nd March 2003, again on the southern banks of the River Tyne, this one being shot inland at Hexham. The second was taken with my trusty Ixus V3.
I think the two of them side by side show a stark contrast between the "working life" of a big river along its length. Although the first image shows heavy industry, (or should I say, the remains of such), it is a far cry from the peaceful, tourist attraction that is the river further inland.
I'd be interested in which image people "prefer".
Mine is the first one, which may suprise some people, but the image reminds me of how myself and my father have earned a living from the "Big River".
