A couple I know were looking to get a pet, and they came across some dogs at the Humane Society that were rescued from a puppy mill. They chose one named "Mandy", and I tell you they made a great choice.
This dog is a little scared of strangers, but is extremely well behaved, and becomes very friendly once you get to know her.

Both pictures were taken at ISO800, 50mm, F2.8

Nice B&W and that second one isn't too bad either. I like the framing, is that a custom action in photoshop to create the framing? I like it.

Toddb, thanks for the comments.
The frame is a custom action I made for photoshop.
It will work on any 2x3 or 3x2 ratio image.

cute doggie, but here is a tip from someone who works with animals and loves photography...
when photographing dogs try to look at their eyes before you do, the pet will look much better if you can (or the owner can) clean off the crusts around their eyes. expecially white dogs. A fine tooth comb, like the ones for removing fleas, are the easiest to remove those.

Drisley:
Those are beatifully shot. The dog looks very sweet, and it's nice that she has a home where she'll be loved.

She looks happy to have a nice home at last! :D

I rescued a dog from the shelter once. Unfortunately, he had been abused to the point it was pretty much impossible to rehabilitate him. I ended up keeping him for over 10 years until he died, but it was a chore. He was afraid of everything and would snap at anything he perceived as a threat. I couldn't count the number of times he drew blood from me just because I happened to take a step too close to him when he wasn't expecting it. I hate to say it, but it was a relief when he passed away... Strangely, I do miss him sometimes.

Hi dris ! The first two images are stunning, especially the B&W one. These are very cute and VERY smart dogs, I used to have one myself (she passed away 5 years ago being almost 11 years old). Since then I have two cats (even developed an allergy for cats, currently under treatment).
