Folks & Gurus,

I just placed the order for White Lighning 2 X1600, 2 X800, octaboxes etc...the order will be delivered on 12/30. Now, I need to learn how to set up the lights (ratios) to take some nice portraits. I plan on using two main lights (X1600), a background light (X800)and a hair light (X800) with 20 degree comb. Note that I do have a Sekonic 358 to measure light...

Any pointers will be helpful...Thanks.

www.amazon.com - all you need in one place :-) Search for "portrait photography."

practice practice practice. You don't need to use the same lighting techiques on all your photos, and you do not need to use all your light (IMO too much makes unnatural shots). I love reflectors.

Play around with distances, positions, and ratios.
