ya i finally decided to get a 300d... got a pretty good deal on it too. anyways..
-Why is it that there's always like a long delay (something like 10 beeps) after the shutter button was pressed?
-After the focusing on an image myself, the AF re-adjusts it and make sthe image more blurry and I have to put it on manual focus and adjust it again and take the shot. What am I doing wrong?
please bare with me on these noob questions. thanks!

If you want to shoot with manual focus, leave your lens's switch in the MF postion. Swtiching it back to Autofocus will result in the camera taking over.
As for the delay and beeps, I can't tell what the issue is with the information given. Is the camera actually beeping at you? What mode are you shooting in?

lol stupid me, i had it in 10 sec delay........ okay you can burn the noob now haha
and as for the AF, do most of you guys use MF? seems as though for me i'd be using MF more often when doing close ups or any telephoto shots
also.. can you guys reccomend me my next lens? this 18-55mm lens gets boring really easily

A: You timer is ON. Look it up in the manual and turn it OFF.
B: Half-press the shutter button to focus (beep) and hold it at half-pressed while you are framing your shot. Then press the shutter button to take the shot. If you let up the shutter button between focusing and shooting it will refocus.

How do you mean - boring?
I have the 18-55mm lens and am very happy with it: this lens (which is incredible value) covers - in equivelant 35mm terms - focal lengths 29mm - 88mm which must be the most used range - by most people.
I find that the 'wide end'of a zoom lens is very useful rather than the 'long end': to have a lens which (again in 35mm terms)has a focal length of, say, 24mm means a nominal 15mm - WOW!
I'm not familiar with telephoto zooms - but no doubt other members can make suggestions.

selecting next lens depends on
what you want to shoot ?
what is your budget ?
for example if you like taking macro shots then you can go ahead and buy lens suited for that similarly for other thing like potraits , wide angle etc.
but if you are really interested in learning & experimenting
Tamron AF 70-300mm
f/4-5.6 LD MACRO (1:2)
It's not that expensive and you can try out many things with it.
i hope it will be useful :)

You ask about which lenses are used - I mostly use the Canon 18-55mm EFS 1:3.5-5.6 Zoom (useful). I also have a Canon EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 Zoom, a Sigma DG HSM 12-24mm 1:4.5-5.6 Zoom, and a Sigma DG 105mm 1:2.8 Macro. I find some of these heavy but so far not boring. :D

I have had my Digital Rebel for about 2 weeks. So far it does everything I wanted it to do. I purchased the body only with the Canon 28-135mm with IS and the Canon 75-300 with IS. These seem to be good lenses for me. Today I was taking pictures of aircraft landing and the 75-300 worked great. I'm looking at the 17-85 with IS as my next lens. I'm like you, still learning all the features of my new toy.

I bought a sigma APO 75-300 lens and it takes really nice pictures. Granted it's not L quality but still really nice. Think it was around 180.
