Absolutely wonderful shots and what a great selection you have.

They are sooo cute!! I think #2 has to be the cutest one I have ever seen. Thanks for posting these, I just love seeing katydid pics as we dont have them in the UK.

some exotic hoppers there, some are just nymphs. I was thinking today as I lay in the grass stalking a Robber fly - at least in the UK we don't have to worry about venemous snakes and inch long ants!

Thanks, Toby :). Not to mention the leeches, mozzies, heat and humidity :D. But i've come across snakes like only 3 times..LOL. I shot them too.

Wonderful collection.
AFAIK crickets= katydids. Crickets have long antennae and GHs short club like antennae so I think these are all crickets (katydids). Must admit I thought crickets were vegetarians :)

#3 is Conocephalus melas nymph also called Smaller Meadow Grasshoppers belongs to Family Tettigoniidae (Katydids, Long-horned Grasshoppers)
I agree with Brian all are katydids and katydids are long-horned grasshoppers, sorry for the confusion.

Yup, agreed with Brian I am - katydids are a sub species of crickets. Antennae length is the best way to tell them apart. Excellent set of shots. I'm also surprised to see that cricket eating a caterpiller, I too thought that they were vegetarians.
