Austroboletus sp.

I really need to get a tripod that can help me with these small subjects.

Note the flying insects caught in the liquid.

Taken near Jarrahdale, south of Perth Western Australia:

:p Fungus totally grosses me out, but I'm glad I finally looked! Neat shots. Looks kind of like a cupcake...of death.

You should come to my backyard, I have gobs of mushrooms but they give me the jibblies so I don't go near them.

Fungi play a very important role in the ecosystem and without them, flora and fauna would be completely different to the way we know it today. They are either independently contributors, recyclers or parasitic.

Nothing to be jibblie about, that comes from too many storybooks and ignorance (lack of knowledge). Fungi fruiting bodies are quite beautiful structures and have unfortunately been bagged in with witches, scum and poison.

Some boletes are edible, but for most Australian fungi it is unknown.

We are a relatively new country where little science has been used to identify or sample fungi species. Even the Indigenous populations rarely ate fungi.

Like #2 best shows the pores rather than gills boletus fruits have.
