I'm not sure how to go about explaining this but here goes. I was shooting some pictures, mostly cityscapes with my d60 on a tripod. As a result, I was doing a lot of in camera editing. If I got a good exposure... out with the bad. After a while I started to notice that the "deleted" files would appear in the view screen, but suddenly disappear. When I got back to my office, I plugged in my camera and in the image browser I could see that not only were the "deleted" files still in the camera, but their would be two of them and the files that wanted were no longer there.
BUT!!!!! When I converted the files from raw to tiffs... Surprise!.. the file that I thought I had deleted but remained in the camera and as a thumbnail in the image browser turned into the file that I thought that I had lost. No I was not drinking and have long ago given up mind altering substances.
Upon making this discovery, I went back to the camera and deleted every file except the files that I had previously had deleted. I then downloaded them, converted them to tiff's and whala! there were all of my good pictures.
What gives?????
