Power loss while recording video

I was recording a graduation speech on my canon SD1000 and the battery died right at the end, just when i shut off the recording. Unfortunately, not all the data was written to memory and i can't view the file.

Is there a way to recover any part of the video?

Try filming another video (doesn't matter what) of the same length, and renaming the THM file from that to correspond with your "problem" AVI.
