Pekka,
I recently got into DSLR and was extremely excited to find your photo gallery of rehearsals and concerts. I'm a violinist in Los Angeles and am just starting to do the same - create a photgraphic record of the interaction of orchestra members, soloists and conductors. Your photos are certainly inspiring and the detailed settings you provide with each photo prove to be invaluable to my learning experience.
I've just started doing some rehearsal photos in a fairly dimly lit church using a D30, 50 f1.4 and a 70-200 f 2.8 IS. I have much to learn about finding the right combination of ISO, shutter speed and aperture. Using available light is quite a challenge to get a good shot - too much blurring of the string players' bow arms, too dark, higher ISO = more noise. And I still need to get a understanding of RAW and Linear workflow!
I'm looking forward to learning more from this forum and this website. Most of all, thank you for the inspiration!
