Okay, you wonderful folks helped me to locate a used Battery Grip BG-ED3 for my 10d, it arrived in perfect condition, but without a manual. I can't seem to find an online manual on the Canon website (but confess to having difficulties period navigating their site).
Can anyone possibly point me to a downloadable manual for it?
Thanks!

you don't need a manual! what do you need to do?
1. remove the battery door from the body
2. place battery door in slot on the right side of the grip
3. insert grip into the battery compartment and tighten scew
4. place batteries in the grip (right side for single battery only), flip switch on the grip to on position.
5. you are done!

Er yeah that part was a no brainer. It's all the little buttons on it, shutter button, vertical shooting I'm guessing?

Yup, you guessed right. The vertical shutter button and the buttons at the back are set up the same way as the horizontal buttons on the camera. Also, there's an on/off switch on the grip so that you can disable the vertical buttons on the grip to prevent their accidental use.
