I just purchased a 3 X telephoto conversion lense for my s50 and it is the best purchase I have made. I have been frustrated with digitial photography ever since purchasing this digital camera. I used 35 mm for 40+ years. The main frustration came from zoom. Digital zoom is worthless as far as I can tell. The 3X optical zoom of the camera is okay, but limits too much, especially fro one used to a canon 35 mm. This lense is great. I should say I tried several less expensive lenses with degradation of picture quality. What I just bought is a Kenko KAT-300PRO 3X lense with the Kenko KAC-S50 lense adapter. If you have suffered the same frustrations that I have with the zoom, try this lense.
