FrontPage for Mac? What do you use?

Hey gang!
I used FrontPage for PC and then Microsoft Expressions Web when I used Vista---now that I am on a Mac what does everyone recommend? Is there something like FrontPage for Mac?

I'm not sure there is anything else like FrontPage, and that is probably a good thing. I'm a big fan of Dreamweaver.

Dreamwaever is probably your best bet. There isn't a direct Frontpage equivalent for the Mac.

The other alternative would be to run Windows under BootCamp/Parallels and run the Windows version of FrontPage there.

I don't think there's a Mac version of Expressions Web though (although you can have Expressions Media with Office 2008, which is something else).

After making my big switch to Mac I honestly wished I did this along time ago--- my only problem is learning Mac programs now vs PC. I just realized that I purchased the Adobe Creative Suite which has Dreamweaver on it---- now how to use the thing!
I enjoyed with FrontPage how in Internet Explorer I could click on edit page--- in FrontPage--- any way to do that with Dreamweaver and Safari?

It's been awhile, but with Dreamweaver you use the Site Manager and basically mirror the live site with a local copy (via ftp). You do your editing on the local copy obviously and it is basically one click to publish your document to the live site. It should be pretty intuitive if you're used to the typical Windows folder based file manager. I'm not sure if there is any sort of browser integration besides the typical Preview in Browser functions.

Is there a way to make changes live on the site--- instead of ftping the site? I was proficient enough with FrontPage to simply make my changes live on the fly instead of doing the ftp stuff---- for me it was quicker. Most changes I made were quick or I made a separate live page and just switched names around to have it go live for another page.

Yes...when you initially set up your site in Site Manager, you will have the option to tell it how you want to work on the site. One of the options is to work on it directly from the host site.

I throw my 2 cents in since I’m a Web Designer/Developer by day. Honestly, it’s best if you learn to code HTML and CSS by hand. However, Dreamweaver is the way to go from an ease of use and time efficiency stand point. It’s a very powerful web editor but it also scales accordingly to the skill of the user.

Stay away from FrontPage if you can. Not only is it the laughing stock in my profession, but it makes a giant mess. If I had a dollar for every website I’ve fixed that was originally built in FrontPage by some other person, I’d be a very rich man.
