Is it my understanding that PS CS does not support the Canon 20D raw files? I went to the Adobe website and looked at the list of supported cameras, and the 20D was not listed. Is there a plug-in to support it, or should I just use another product? I have the Canon EOS File Viewer Utility that came with the camera. Will that be sufficient? I also have read that Fred Miranda's raw plug-in is excellent. Does that work with PS or is it a stand alone product. Thanks so much for replies...

Just thinking out loud ... but isn't the 1D MkII listed as supported? Doesn't it use the same RAW format as the 20D? If both are true, I would think PS CS would support the 20D.

When I got my 20D a week ago it came with a copy of Digital Photo Professional, which will import files into PS CS w/o a problem.

I've been looking at some of my older work with it and it works quite smooth.

They have the same File extension.. but the two are not the same.

Does every camera require custom decoding support? (Different sensor = different data?) If so ... what a pain for the software engineers.

Thus DNG.

Essentailly.. yes
The Only Cameras that I know had the exact same file type were the 10D and Drebel with the identical CMOS sensor.

Even the D60 with nearly the same CMOS as the 10D was different enough.

For the RAW software info to be identical.. hte electronics used to create the image need to be identical as well.. thus far.. on the 10D and 300D have shared this distinction to my knowledge.

Have been supported unofficalliy since version 2.3 of the plugin.

There is also 2.4 beta version that officially support 20D. But You can safely use v2.3 it works just fine.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I initially downloaded the 2.4 beta version, but it gave me an expiration date. It said the plug-in could still be used after that date. I then downloaded the 2.3 version w/DNG. That worked also (of course). I am up and running and ready to process away...

Thanks again, everyone, for your expertise and quick replies!!!
