My second year at Le Mans. Notorious for being crap for photo opps but I did my best. The crowd were hoping the barriers at points and I managed to get quite close, they are all taken through a chain link fence but large aperture, lots of zoom and quick panning cancelled them out! Let me know what you think, its not many. Think I got around 500 altogether :)

nice

R10 at the Ford Chicane is excellent

I'm not so sure on the trails you've added though.

LM is notorious as you say for getting good shots.

My impressions was that Le Mans in notorious for NO good photo opps. There are fences everywhere and you are always really far from the track.

I can understand why you would dislike the trails, although my idea was to capture the sense of action and I feel they compliment this quite well personally.

Ya lucky bastid!

Congrats on going to Le Mans. Ferrari dominated GT2!

Fantastic pics, too. The panning shot of the Aston Martin is easily my favorite.

Think, considering the conditions you did really well! I'm going next year hopefully, my mate just got back from it this year and said it was amazing!!

Whoa No 2 and 3 caught my eye. They say Le Mans is an endurance sport, why is that though?

Thanks alot guys! I also like 2 and 3 alot. No.4 is good in my opinion but looks slightly grainy as shot in low light, my 70-300 only goes to about f/5.6 at full zoom, I think I could definately benefit from a 70-200 f/2.8 sigma lens in the future.

Anyone considering going to le mans should definately do it, this year was a my second time. Its a fantastic experience. Not great for taking pictures as I say but worth it nonetheless.

Superb shots Butler each one is great but the second and fifth shots are the standouts for me. No.2 for the colours and no.5 for the layered composition.

The more I look at 5, the mre I want it to run just a little wider to encompass the far edges of the track. I'm not sure if that would be to the detriment of the layered effect though.

I'm very tempted by Le Mans next year, it's supposed to be a superb weekend.

John.

Thanks alot John. I agree about the 5th shot. That was at 70mm and to be honest it was getting late and I just couldnt be bothered to change lenses! I would recommend the trip, its an amazing experience.

Great shots, nice motion blur. What kind of settings did you use for these (EXIF)? I recently shot motorcycles for the first time and boy was it a challenge! If you used the canon 70-300mm I have to say excellent job! What body?

Its a Tamron 70-300 f/4-5.6 I shoot mainly in manual, some were shutter priority, about 1/80-1/120 most of the time. Thanks alot for the feedback.
