Thanks for the reply, I included the tree as i thought it would be too much space just with the horizon and sunrise. Tried to add a little foreground interest
Thanks for the comment anyway
Cheers

the tree is fantastic -- particularly in #1. it provides a contrasting color / texture to the smooth gradient in the sky. the juxtaposition of the sun and tree in the first is rather lovely. nice work.

Your second tree shot...you have a contrail in the branches....
Great shots and beautiful colors.

You succeeded in doing what you set out to do! The starkness of the tree set against the drama of the sunrise and those colours is really nice. The only thing I would say is you need to straighten the horizon on both shots.
Good work

You could always try standing further back with a bigger lens. That way the sun in the background will appear bigger relative to the tree. Might work out nicer?
Nice shots as they are though.

I preferred the first shot - I think the horizontal orientation goes along with the feeling of serenity and relaxation here. Absolutely lovely sunrise! I think you have a true artistic sense here - the contrast of the dark somber silhouette of the tree with the wonderfully colorful sunrise. I could hang a photo like that in my living room. The only thing is this: I think I'd prefer standing back a little from the tree and give a little more feeling of spaciousness - I think the tree looks just a little crowded in that space. Well, on second thought, no - I think it's perfect as is.

Whoa, I just started and already we took similar pictures. I think yous is better, esp. the first one. I like the contrast and it looks sharp.
