Hi All! basroil on this forum and I run a photography company on our college campus. We're in the process of rebranding and were wondering if you guys would vote on which of above names you like best. We shoot on campus, mostly sporting events and student performances, as you can see at our current site, www.lsb-photo.com (http://www.lsb-photo.com).

We want a fun, catchy name that will draw both students and parents to our site, as well as some university officials. It should sound somewhat professional, but playfulness is also good. The URL should be manageable. So vote for whichever you like best!

If you have any other ideas, please share them below! Anything involving "quad?"

Thanks so much!

Campus pix? I suppose that a motto, "I shot your kid!", would be out of line? :D

I think "Campus Big Shot" (without the "s") could work, maybe sounds a bit cocky, but isn't that what college is all about?

You'll be pleased to hear I've gone ahead and registered every domain name on your list, PM me for a quote on what it'll cost you to buy your final selection. Joking.

Thanks to everyone who has voted so far! Campus pix is great but taken.

Thanks for the input, Billo78... and the humor ;-) Good thing I trust POTN members so much...

When voting for your choice, I urge you to try to vote for which you might like best as a customer and layperson rather than your obvious capacities as a photographer. Thanks!

I voted Campus Photographic --- this is something that a non photographer would look for-- and would explain to them what you do.

The one thing I don't like about Campus Photographic (as well as a few others) is that it's long, URL wise I mean... Also, 'photographic' is easy to misspell? Am I unreasonably dismissing it?

We'll just have to live with the ones who spell it Kampus? :D

One thing that I've decided after having a hyphenated URL for the past year is that I want one without any punctuation this time around - the hyphen is just so annoying and easy for customers to forget.

Not sure if those were actual suggestions, but of course Campus Photo is taken, underscores can't be used, and Campus.Photo would require buying Photo.com, which I don't think is feasible without a few hundred grand...

You should also remember that the intended audience is people with little or no photographic experience, but we will also be in direct competition with a few established photographers in our area and also the school's private photographers. So far we have used LSB Photography, with decent success, but if a better name is easier to remember, why not? (Yes, OP's first post should have been we and our instead of I and my)

p.s. I hate bigshots, and I'de like to hear more possible names that don't have photography in them.

No more whining. Look again.

What are all of your opinions on Campus Big Shots? That was the first one we came up with but as you can see, basroil doesn't like it.

I think a lot depends on who your target audience is. A slightly witty, tongue-in-cheek name is likely to be more appealling to students than middle-aged businessmen.

With regard to hyphens, I've just created a site for some work that I do occasionally. I registered the domain name with 3 different spelling permutations (eg campus-shots, campusshots and campushots).

Consideration should also be given to the meaning of the words (or slang). For example, campus-shots or campus-pix suggests you are more professional than campus-snaps.

The name must be easy to remember, and preferably easy to spell (although you could register alternative spellings as I indicate above).

I like to have a name that is not necessarily linked to the individual photographer (it's always possible to add that at a later stage).

I totally agree about the Campusnaps idea. Thanks!

Any more votes?

i would vote for campus photographic (easy to understand, and professional sounding).

I am just wondering if this is your short list of names to which you just need one. The only reason I ask is because you have limited your name to having campus as the first word. It sometimes limits the creative process by setting boundaries. just a thought though as the above names are great.

I really like Campus Big Shots, that stuck out to me out of all of them. Best of luck!
