I've followed the discussions on the merits of various lenses, and wonder what recommendations can be made regarding choice of filters. I have the 20D and kit lens, and I am ordering the Tamron 28-75 2.8. Is there a 'general' filter (UV?) that you guys and girls stick/keep on your lenses, or do you avoid such add-ons?
Appreciate your comments.

My personal view is to get it right the first time around. Prevents bad habits.
I use UV for sure. Second is a polarizer. I also like to have an orange, red(B&W), FL-D, FL-W, and blue handy at all times.

I appreciate your comments. Since I posted the question I've discovered that the topic has been well-covered in other threads, so I've learned to look before I post! I'll get the uv at least and probably the polarizing. Just a shame that the numerous Hoya filters of various types I already have, are 55 or 58mm and not the 67 that I need!

the 58 will fit on the 18-55mm lens in the 20D lens kit

the 58 will fit on the 18-55mm lens in the 20D lens kitThe 20D is available as a kit with the 17-85 IS, which uses 67mm filters.
