Looking for a thread...

Yes.. Yes...
I've tried searching for the past hour but I can't seem to find it.
It was a thread or perhaps just a link discussing how someone had added home hardware store rubber gaskets to some of their lenses to complete the "seal".
Anyone else seen it, know where to find it?
Just wondering how effective it'd be with a 70-200 2.8 and a 1D by adding the gasket on?

Don't know what thread you are talking about. But you can buy sheet rubber or neoprene in 1/16 thickness. Use a very good circle cutter (cut the outside diameter first). Should be no problem.

It won't "complete the seal" however, since other parts of the lenses aren't sealed...
