View Full Version : Will Canon ever make a rangefinder?... or a FAST P&S?

I really want a point & shoot that responds instantly when you press the shutter. Why can't they make that? I'd like an interchangeable lens for a rangefinder, but I'd take a fixed 24 or 28.

Sigma looks interesting but is still SLOW.

Epson R-D1s looks good but has faults (old sensor, manual shutter cock is incredibly dumb, poor low light / ISO).

Will Epson make an R-D2? Someone needs to fill the void of the M8 suckage (http://web.mac.com/kamberm/Leica_M8_Field_Test,_Iraq/Page_1.html) for photojournalism and street photography.

If they make one, that's decent, for $500. If it's really good for $700-1000, I'd still probably buy it.

First they have to make it, so good luck on that.

--Will Epson make an R-D2?--.
Could depends on the non-compete clauses in Cosina’s contracts with both Epson and Zeiss.

A small rangefinder with maybe the option of a 35, 50, 90mm lens would be awesome. The epson just doesn't do it for me. The sigma is not quite what I would want...and the Leica is too troubled to justify the cost of entry into that system...though it feels great!

Someone HAS to get into this! Canon, Nikon...Pentax...SOMEONE!
