photography is one of those skill that doesn't matter how good you are, you can only provide the service to others and not to yourself.

Have you ever run into a situation that you need a professional photographer for your own events (party, wedding, etc)? Do you have friends in the field that help you out or you go out there and hire photogs?
If you hire photogs and consider you have a good amount of knowledge on photography, what do you look for in them? How do you determine on the price? how good do they have to be to meet your expectation (since obviously, your expectation must be high)?

Are you getting married or something?

I'm still new to DSLRs and photography in general (although I've learned ALOT since I've started)... when I got married last year I just had my Sony H5 superzoom, and hired my photographer based on his impressive portfolio. He did an awsome job for my wedding also. :) It just so happens he (Toogy) is a member on here, and recommended me to POTN lol. I would hire him again cause he is very good!

that's good that you found someone you like, but that's what I meant, when you have some knowledge on photography, your expectation of hiring one is a lot higher because that photog must be lot better than you are
