An impromptu shot of my grandfather. The lighting is a littel harsh but I like the expression in his eyes.
I'm new to portrait shots so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Not to bad at all, Did you use a bounce flash? I ask because it looks like there is stronger shadows around the mouth and chin, some fill lighting may have helped. But over all not to bad :) :)

i agree on the bouncing! but for first portrait it ain't bad at all.
i find portrait shooting the hardest:rolleyes:

Thanks all. On the bouncing issue - actually I did use a bounce but I think I was too close for it to be effective (I was using a 24mm lens). I'll try standing further back next time.
