Suspended Leaf -n00b with a 300D

Hello all!

As I am sure many have, I received a 300D for Christmas. While I am not new to digital cameras, I am new to "photography".

Here is a shot that I found interesting.

Well, it almost looks to be floating on water or incased in ice?????.But yet,if you lightened it up maybe just a bit, It might show a bit better?

I also think it came out a bit soft. I am such a newbie with this camera, some shots come out spectacular and some not good at all.

BTW: That was taken of a leaf floating in my pool. I just thought it looked interesting.
