Well the sun came out for about 10 minutes so I was able to get a few shots. I find a lot of irony in this first one. John Dean served as White House Counsel under Pres. Nixon, that whole watergate thing. Well look what I found in this small town cemetery in Connecticut. If you look to the left you see NIXON and on the right JOHN DEAN.

This one looks like nature tried to claim some land back. Has to be a tough place to be buried

Interesting photos, especially the ironic Nixon & Dean. Reminds me of a visit to a small village cemetery 4 years ago, the day after the presidential election. The largest tombstone in the place said "Albert Gore".

Pretty cool finds! I've stumbled across a number of odd names too, as well as a few graves that have been overtaken by growing trees. Always interesting things to see in these old cemeteries.

Thanks guys, people are missing some real photo ops if they don't visit some cemeteries. I know alot of people feel funny about it, I don't. I think in some ways it's showing respect and keeping there memories going.

I love the first shot especially Sandy. really nice with the odd flash of red around
there is a lovely grave yard very near here
dating from before the first world war when Britain occupied this country.
many babies of soldiers are buried there
died through illness mostly
the setting of the graveyard is beautiful
I have often took shots there over the years
find it a very peaceful place..........
well , besides the obvious........... it's out on the plains
and on a rise
so it overlooks a lot of beautiful countryside around

Thank you Marie for you comments, What I find sad is the last photo of the WW II Vet. his grave is stuck way off to the side, I think where they used to have what they called the paupers graves. It was never tended to up until just a few years ago.
I could be wrong but that's what it looked like.

That last photo is very moving in an unusual way, but very good. Nice capture :)

it looks ok Sandy
the grave may be on one side for a special reason
at least it is attended to now.
it must be hard keeping up with so many (war) dead
especially if all the relations are dead also
or maybe have moved on to another place.
there must be many hero's grave's without any kind of headstone at all .
that's a very nice shot you took
