OK, I was one who suggested a while back (on the old forum) that we should consider
using several different topics for sharing photos.
One comment, I DON'T LIKE IT!
I liked the single "SHARE PHOTOS" topic better.
What do you think?

With multiple categories posts stay up longer, it is easier to find and follow styles of photography close to your own (big function of this forum is receiving and sharing info). We seem to have more visitors because of this change.
I'm not sure why you want to poll this issue, and make voters opinion public. Change has been on for a week and will be on, to fully evaluate its meaning and effect will take months, not days. I don't think I've had more than one complaint yet. There is no reason to change it back now.

IMHO, the new categories give people an opportunity to have their photos on page one for a longer period of time to get feedback, and that warm feeling that your picture is still on page one for a little longer.

I like the fact that I am less likely to find necked people pics :) by avoiding the people section.
I like the fact that if I want to find a picture of a bird it's much easier to find now.
But sometimes when I just want to browse and comment on general pictures I do get frustrated with the different categories, and tending to just click on "New Posts" so I just get a list of the new posts. It's more like the old share category, and I just skip the ones that are discussions.
The "page one issue" never really bothered me, once I thought about it---who cares how long it stays vs how may look vs how many comment. When you read a book you don't only read page one. You look at/read all the pages. I always look past page one in this forum to see what I have missed. But I guess this way it's like we have a table of contents so if you only want to read chapter 4 then you don't have to look at all the others either.
There are pluses and minuses to everything we deal with in life.
I can deal with the changes even if I liked it better the old way or not.
(It does seem there is less complaining and whining about this way though.)
Happy New Year

Here's a revolutionary new idea:
In the sharing forums, responding to a post doesn't make it rise to the top of the page, posts are instead listed ONLY in the order in which they were originally posted. That way, all posts get equal time on the front page and users have an easy way to see what new photos might have been posted.
I think one problem of having one page of shared photos was that a couple of posts might create lots of chatter, sometimes off-topic, and would result in pushing other pictures off the front. This solution would let everybody's pictures get their fair share of time.

Hmmm... IMHO it just takes longer to view. If I want to see what's new in the Share
Photos area now, I have to click through each category.

Not sure what the big deal is with making a poll or with making it public. If you don't
like these features then disable them... you are the moderator.

Why not use the "New Posts" search, then You have all new posts in one list. This is much faster then clicking through each forum.

If this place had public moderation I would mod you up.

It would be even nicer to have a link to "New Posts" from the Photo Sharing section only. I also second the idea of keeping the list in chronological order, rather than letting posts get "bumped" up due to comments. I frequented a board a while back where people would reply to their own posts with the single word "bump" just to give it more "air time". It would also be nice to sort by replies as those tend to be the most popular and not many use the thread popularity feature. Then again I'm giving all this input and my PHP abilities with vBulletin are lacking. I'm happy with the new system.

Yep, great point. With one click you get the old single-forum Share format, or you can go by individual forum.
Best of both worlds!
