My wife got me a Canon EF 100 mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens for Christmas. Here are the first two test shots; regualr and a close up..Tell me what you think..

the first shot seems more in focus

but not sure which shot you took with the new macro lens

Both shots were taken with the Macro - However, I noticed that the second one is indeed out of focus..probably had it on manual - tks

I find both photos rather boring, sorry. I also sometimes forget to check the lens is on auto focus before I take shots - it's always annoying.

It's the new lens testing out session, it's normal we all go through it with new gear. I've shot about 100 pics with my new 17-40...they almost all suck.

That explains why they're not very interesting ;) That lens is fantastic, mine's razor sharp, astoundingly so. My next idea is to capture a shot of my girlfriend's eye, with something interesting reflected in it.
