Hello,
Looking for help on camera settings for best quality, early evening, neon signage shots. I've heard 50-100 ISO, f8-f16, and somewhere between a 5 sec. to 30 sec shutter speed. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't do a lot of night photography but have an assignment coming up quickly.

Thanks,

A lot will depend on if you're using a tripod or not. I enjoy this type of photography my self. Using a tripod, I use 100 ISO, AV of F11 and let the camera pick the shutter speed, but I always auto bracket +/- 2/3 of a stop. Usually works for me. Don't forget to change your white balance to Tungsten.

Two schools of thought on changing white balance if you're shooting in RAW. Some say it doesn't matter at all, change white balance in PP, some will say it will help to have the correct white balance set, even if you're shooting in RAW, as it will assist your PP.

Hey the 5D is a digital. Take some shots, if you get it wrong, delete them... Use ISO100, ISO50 lacks DR...

You used a "good" title, so be sure to look at the "Similar Threads" links at the bottom-left of this page, too.

No. It is just something you can do on the assignment and immediately see the results!:)
