Found this Frog Hopper Nymph on the move yesterday, only the second time I've ever seen one on the go :D

If there's ' Spit' then there's something in those bubbles, The nymphs suck up the sap & the unused excess is then emitted out of their rear end producing the bubbles, a bit like farting in the bath I guess, sorry I couldn't resit that :lol::lol:

As far as I can make out there are about 23,000 species of spittle bugs & this one sure looks like the Frog Hopper to me

interesting, my book has Froghoppers and Spittle bugs as two different families namely Cercopidae and Aphrophoridae with no mention of the former using this concealing technique. However from Googling I learn both families and the Clastopteridae have this nymphal feature and indeed were originally classified under the same superfamily.
Only adult Froghopper i've shot is this species Philaenus spumarius:
