I'm probably at a lost cause here, but it would be neat if I could save to an ftp server from within CS3 (it'll save me uploading manually).

Anyone done this, or know how to?

I'm on a Mac by the way.

Thanks.

Afternoon Pete.

I'm having a look around for an FTP client that will upload images as soon as they are saved in a specific folder. I suppose this is the same kind of thing.

Yes Pete. That would do it. I've found an Automater plugin that does kind of that, so I can upload directly from Finder. It works well, but a drop-box app would be even better.

I have no real reason to keep my resized jpg files after processing, so I'm happy for them to be bounced directly to the ftp server and then removed...

Hey. It's a great idea, why didn't I think of it. :) At the end of the process I always save the file to jpeg and right away upload it to my online album. That would be great to automate it. I just searched a bit and found that CuteFTP has folder sync option. Not sure yet if it does it automatically. It has a has a mac version http://www.cuteftp.com/cuteftpmacpro/tour_5.aspx#synchronize It's not free though.
I am going to download filezilla and see if i can set it up so it will automatically sync the folders.

Thanks for the idea :) Post back if you are able to set it up.

Just downloaded FileZilla client and I can't seem to find the option to sync folders or the DropBox Capability. WaltA can you please explain more about the DropBox.

Thanks,
Yan

Sorry, it's been a while since I used it but I saw the Drag & Drop Support on the line below on the web site and assumed they still supported the drop box.

Used to be just a menu item you could choose a folder to monitor and you copuld specify the destination server/folder.

================================================== ========
FeaturesAmong others, the features of FileZilla include the following:

Easy to use
Supports FTP, FTP over SSL/TLS (FTPS) and SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)
Cross-platform. Runs on Windows, Linux, *BSD, OSX and more
Available in many languages
Supports resume and transfer of large files >4GB
Powerful Site Manager and transfer queue
Drag & drop support
Configurable Speed limits
Filename filters
Network configuration wizard
Remote file editing
Keep-alive
FTP-Proxy support
If you like it, see some screenshots of FileZilla

I think the best you can do in Filezilla is set default folders (local and remote) to display when connected and then drag and drop the files from one to the other (or double click).

What I've done is download an Automater script

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/uploadtoftp.html

When you set up the parameters and save it, you can save it as a "Finder Plugin". So now, when I right-click on files, I can choose Automator->Upload to ftp.

That works for now. I just save all my jpg files to the drop-box folder and upload them from there.
