The 18-55 that came standard with the 300D. I would have liked more dof as the background was several meters away but it was hand-held in an awkward position. As it is, it was F/7.1 @ 1/200.

that's terrific
I never saw a flathead spider like that before
was thinking of turning the picture the other way round
so as he is 'on top' and could see him better ?

A nice pic Orange... creeps me out a bit, but i'ts pretty cool that he came out facing directly at you [that is the front isn't it?]

I tried that already, it doesn't look right. And yes, that is its front. I have a not-so-good shot from the side, and it is suprisingly long for such a compact 'face'.
