I have seen too many shots of streaking car headlights so I wanted to do something different. There is a very small "boardwalk" on here on Balboa Island. It has a Ferris Wheel, and I thought that that might make an interesing extened exposure shot. Any preference, etc?

Wow.
Love the effect on the ferris wheel, personaly I like a lot the first one, but have you tried making a crop so it seems like a PANORAMIC shot instead of a full frame. I think it will be better.
The second one, mm not much really, I think that close up gets like not to far, not too close.
I like a lot instead the 3 and 4 shots, great composition.
What is the EXIF? of this photos?

Excellent job...
Haven't thought of Balboa since I was there with the ex-wife. I see the Pizza Place is still off to the right side of the ferris wheel, nice place to get a cheap and good piece of pizza.
Isn't the harbor that the S.S. Minnow sailed from close to where you took these shots?

I love the Welcome4s shot: I get a great sense of excitement seeming to invite me to shore. I think the exposure is nicely balanced - not too bright, not too dim.

Where did you take the third shot from...a row boat?
Great shots, properly exposed. Some surreptitous cropping would help though.

Really nice, I quite like the second one with the harsh Ferris wheel compared with the light reflected in the water. In contrast I took a bit of a cold picture of the 'Scott Monument' in Edinburgh yesterday with the Hogmanay celebration Ferris wheel silhouette in the background.

Good shots, and an interesting (creative) idea. You made it work really well.

I really like #2 - I prefer photos with a reasonably strong focus, and the reflections are nice, and big.

def nice work - first shot is a lil too center heavy for my liking
same w/ the 2nd
3rd - i wish you didnt crop off part of the wheel
last one isnt as impressive looking because so much of the foreground looks like it is daylight from the long exposure

Very nice. I particularly like the one where you can see where people were moving in the frame. That always seems to add another dimension to a photo for me.

Now it's got me thinking what else has lights and moves? If a rollercoaster had bright enough lights on it that would make a sweet effect too.

You're so lucky. The Wedge on the Balboa peninsular is my favourite place in the world! You don't need a tsunami to remind you of the power of the ocean if you sit there for a while!

Rad -
I really like the third one quite a bit. I just wish the wheel wasn't cropped off on the side. Reason I like it is, its close up and has the feel of a "carnival" because of the angle of the shot and the distortion of the lens. Its pretty nice.
I like the second one because the colors across the water are GREAT...draws me into the photo. I don't like the crop tho...its kinda standard.
All the photos are really decent with color esp since you shot at night.

I like #4, it looks like ghosts are walking towards you.
