how do you like it so far? I just received mine today and had a fun time with it...totally blew 90% of my shots due to chronic over exposure, a problem I have in general, but given the bright day and this lens it was more significant.

I have noticed I am needing to get used to it's light weight on my 40d. It's a gem of a buy though. Your shots show how good it can be...thanks for posting them.

Little "Diego" is quite charming.
The gorilla has a halo and a strange coloration to the grass around him. Was this shot post processed significantly? Perhaps over-lightened?
The Croc is interesting.
The flamingos must all be asleep.
The tree seems to be in silhouette. Can't say much good for that lighting and the background.

You have the same problem I do. Need to keep in mind the rule of 1/3s and stop centering things in the photograph. Although it works for the croc. That's a nice shot.

wow, you caught that one...I missed it, but see it now too. I am thinking maybe it was a DOF issue? The gorilla is so thick that not all of it was in the DOF range? I am just a rook guessing at that one.

hehehehe...good reminder for me. I am hoping today I can grab a UV Haze filter because we do have a bit of haze here all the time due to winds ALL THE TIME. I am better at using the alternate focus points on the 40d. But, SPEED is my friend and I MUST keep chanting that...speed is my friend, speed is my friend...but learn to control my speed because often speed kills... ;)

Thanks for all the cc guys...

I do struggle with 1/3's but I'm trying. I thought the flemingos were a little 1/3's?

Here is an unprocessed version of the gorilla. I didn't pic this shot because of quality but rather from it being unique...

you know, if that is an unedited version...to my eye the gorilla's coat might actually just be refracting light (you know sort of a shimmer) causing the glow/halo effect. ??. Kinda weird cool natural effect but then again, I'm new. ;)

The gorilla's halo could possibly be generated by the light source that is from a rearward position.

If you have the MP for it I would go right after those teeth/head. A little DOF and it might look very menacing.

We will be at the National Zoo in DC this weekend and I'll get some new ones for version 3...
