This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 48hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read (Before and After #74.)

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!

This will end on Monday, June 23rd at 8:00pm (Eastern).
Beautiful church in a less than beautiful town, Warden :-)

Not in it to win it, I just wanted to play a little. Besides, there are way too many steps to try and put them all down ... and it's 4am ;)

Sorry I was more playing around with this and didn't think I would actually enter it so I don't remember exactly what I did.

-lens correction
-rotate
-levels
-made two layers (bottom with gaussian blur) and multiplied(?) the two
-tried adding a black border but somehow was completed with the heal tool rather than a brush

I wasn't sure where I was going with this one...

So I started by cloning out that garden area in the lower right
added separate layer to adjust the green & yellows in the grass. merged
used lens correction / transform vertical perspective to get rid of a little of the tilt feeling.
cropped
after that it still didn't feel complete so I stared looking through some actions for inspiration when I came across the bronze plaque action -
added text then applied bronze action

Lens correction.
Added the bride and groom.
Did some cloning to get the branches/etc. out of the grass.
Tried to give the grass a little more color.
Levels.
Contrast.
Shadows/Highlights.
Burned in some areas.
Sharpened.
The sky got a little pixel-y, so I used a blur to cover that up somewhat.
Border.

I think that's it.

I'm always torn between realistic edits and creative ones... I really liked all of them, the snow, lightning, ivy, HDR

Tracy, once again you did a great job! Liked yours too Zero
Winner: Dandan, loved what you did with it :-)

(Sorry it took a bit long guys.... couldn't keep my eyes open last night!)

Congrats dandan. That sky goes perfectly behind a magnificent church.

Thanks, Tracey. I thought about trying to stick a little wedding photographer down there, too - but I figured that might be going too far.
