Oh MY!!!!!!!

Aren't these guys usually very skittish?

Is this in a Zoo?

Excellent Shot :)

Not in a zoo. This was taken last May just as the snow was melting off of Mount Rainier. I had driven around the east side of the park, making it a long day as some of the roads were still closed. I initially wasn't going to drive up to Paradise on the way home, but my gut told me I should. As I approached the top, this little guy was running down the road ahead of me. Needless to say I quickly parked and got out. He crossed the road, took a few sips of water from a stream and then sat down to pose. Filled two 512 CF cards.

Thought this would be once in a lifetime experience, but less than two weeks later I saw the lowland fox I posted.

Nice shots Turbo. Must have been pretty cool to get some good shots like that. :)

Couldn't believe it had happened ... only thing better was when I came across a grizzly and her two cubs in Montana

Great Shots!

Have you got a spare couch for a week or two? I'm house-trained...

Spectacular shots, Dave. I like the last one best of all. (Mt Rainier is one of my favorite places. I envy your ability to visit it often.)

Nope  no spare couch, something about having no room in the dorm room at college. But then again, living in the dorms means no bills, which means I can get that 600mm lens sooner... On the other hand, living in the Dorms at 39 is no piece of cake, but the research opportunities here are awesome. I'm in an animal behavior class for the next two quarters. The best part is we get to choose our own area to study. Needless to say I'm focusing my studies on foxes.

I've found that the animals in National Parks are more tolerant of human "contact" - most likely acclimated to our presence. This one crossed the road then towards me, and not only allowed me to switch out CF cards as they filled, s/he stayed around long enough for some video footage too!!!

Maybe someday I'll actually finish the video "Wild Washington" I've been working on and submit it to Animal Planet. Then there's my book, "The Wild Sound" which documents the flora and fauna of Puget Sound. But college comes before play and I need to keep working towards my Masters, if not a Doctorate. That is unless I get hired by National Geographic.... ;)
