Anyone here feels that the canon i960 printer prints waay too much magenta?

I've made over 25 prints and time and time again it has a strong magenta cast to it. No matter what I do its always too magenta.

Is there an issue with this printer or perhaps my print head is hooped? I just purchased this printer last week and my magenta is already almost empty!

Need help quick

Thanks

okay after burning up 3/4 of a photo magenta and 1/2 a photo cyan cartridge I think i have figured out why my printer is behaving so oddly.

I turns out that I need to have the following settings in Photoshop

assign the color profile of the picture to adobe sRGB 1998
Set color management to "printer color management"
Do not enable ICM in Canon's printer driver
Set color levels manually. I set my magenta to about -10

The prints looked nice but I feel stupid that I burned up so much ink!

Steve,
Are you using the latest driver for the i960? I had th same problem but a lot of it went away with the latest driver.
My set up was:
Assign color profile as RGB
Color management-Same as Source
In Canon driver software- ICC Profile checked. This will stop double profiling and allow PS to control the output.
I've since started using a Pixma i8500 and use the same settings with excellent results.. Really important is to make sure your monitor is calibrated otherwise all the hard work is for not.

A strong magenta cast to an image is typical when both the printer and PS try to manage color.

If you want to use printer profiles, allow either PS or the printer to manage them. My preference is to allow PS or, when I use ImagePrint Lite, to let my RIP manage color. Make sure all printer driver options to manage color are turned off.

Cheers,

Mitch
