Now I know why I love shooting landscapes.... The mountains DO NOT move !!! This was my 2nd attempt at motocross. Not that many keepers to be honest but I'm learning.

(John Dowd # 16, Jeremy Mcgrath # 2)

Dowd and MC battled hard all 4 moto's. It came down to the last moto on Sunday and they were swappin leads and then McGrath got a flat tire on the last lap... What a bummer !!!

Are the pictures ok?

Dowd makes us old men feel good!

You caught good action in the photo's. Maybe a little faster shutterspeed and bump the saturation so they pop out more.

For your second attempt a MX i would be happy

They're still getting it done, thats awesome!

I agree that they just don't pop, a bit of PP and i bet they'd look great!

Thanks for the comments. Its kind of sad that straight out of the camera with a "L" lens isnt good enough. Thats the world of modern photography I guess.

#4 color looks the best. They seem to be slightly overexposed. Bright sun can do that, sometimes adjusting one or two clicks less light helps. Which photostyle are you using?

BTW nice captures. I like 4 & 5 best.

2 of my favorite racers in one shot... Got some nice action there, exposures were close ~ but not bad by any means

I like the next to the last one its not the same old rider in the corner shot. I ride and love the shot with the jump and elevation change, kind of different for a change

Some nice angles used mate but slightly over exposed as was mentioned earlier, try running 1/3 stop under as you can always PP the image later to bring it back up but if it is over exposed to start with and the highlights are burnt out then there is little you can do about pulling it back.

Also saturate them a little more to punch out the colours...last one is excellent, style reminds me a little of Frank Hoppen who I reckon is one of the best Moto-X snappers there is... Along with Geoff Meyer...

Check out MotoX magazine, the photography is awesome and inspiring...

keep at it though mate as it is a real good effort for your second shoot...

I like #'s 1 and 4. I also think the shutter speed is a little slow. Speed it up and adjust the ISO if necessary. Also if you work on your panning a little, the background for #'s 3,4 and 5 would be blurred some and the riders would really stand out.

Keep working at it just like the old riders do. Now if Jim Wienert, Brad Lackey and Pierre Karsmakers were there, I'd make the trip.

I think you're pics look fine. The subject matter is awesome (I love MX, it's been a long time, my personal last moto was in 1984!!!), and you got some good angles. Really, I'm a bit sick of the typical OVERSATURATED image we've grown accustomed to. If I could make a small suggestion, fill more of the frame when possible unless the intent is to show a riders relation to a section of track. The real issue here is though is something you had no control over, harsh lighting...

Gary, I quite like #6. I bit different crop may be better, but I love the look with the track and jump in the frame. #1 is great as-is. Also, number your shots!!!!!! ;)
