View Full Version : WORLD WIDE PHOTO WEEK: PART 118 -- Beginning

BLS

The theme for this week is "Beginning." Interpret this any way you like, as different and unusual interpretations are always welcome.

Here are the rules:

1. Shots need to be taken between sunrise Monday and sunset the following Sunday. Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Crummy shots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!

2. Post your shots at any time during the week.

3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e.,embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=194511 (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=194511)

An index to previous weeks can be found here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=170603 (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=170603)

That's it! Have fun!

Great theme! I am heading to the beach on Wednesday for a few days and have a shoot planned that should go well with the theme. Here is hoping it goes smoothly. :)

Thanks Barbara.

monty28428,
Thanks :)
I wasn't so happy with it but this was the idea that popped in my head about this weeks theme so I went for it. ;)

Thats what my co-worker said. The tree tries to grow these branches all over and I have to go break these little branches off or else the tree gets out of hand. I guess since the tree is in my front yard and I have spend much time grooming the tree I did not notice that the leaf is kinda dieing. Anyway thanks for the comment.

John -- Nice!!!! I think I see a Sesame Street-like character on the right. The sun becomes his right eye.

Dave -- I do the same thing with some of our trees. It's easier than pruning limbs a few years from now.

Here's mine for this week. I might get some more shots tomorrow.

It's the beginning of the daylilly season here.
These are some of the first to bloom each year.

They grow wild, spreading into large drifts of color, often along roads.
I've always liked them.

I'm told that their buds can be cooked and eaten.
They're supposed to taste like green beans.

I will be away most of tomorrow. so I'm starting our discussion about the next theme today.

It would be great if you shared some of your ideas for themes.
I'll soon be out of ideas!

Nonetheless, here are some to think about.
1. Clean
2. Simplicity
3. Edges

Great shots so far. I see that I had some similar thoughts to others. But in my defense I haven't been able to check in so I didn't copy I promise. :D

Vacation is going good, but I will be on the road tomorrow and be quite busy so I am getting my shots up tonight, without any PP as I only have my non-calibrated laptop so I apologize for any off colors or bad levels.

Sunrise from Holden Beach, beginning of a great day!

And the beginning of a new life. Morning Dove with baby (hard to see baby, but it's there. ;))

Dave -- certainly the Beginning of the end :-) Nice shot.

Beautiful day lilies Barbara - nice interpretation.

Mike I'm glad you had a good time down here in my neck of the woods :-) Great beginning of the Day!

I wanted to do something like this (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=5810146&postcount=9694) when the alarm woke me up - but I was completly unable to keep steady at 5 am so here's one from a storm front Monday evening.

Beginning of a storm:

Well - time for my comeback? It's been a while since I popped into one of these...

Beginnings

The following picture, for those of you who may not know, is of the Federal Parliament building here in Australia. It was taken at the beginning of the day this morning - and enacts the beginnings of our laws ;)

Clik da pic to see a bigger version

So, ::John::, is that in Canberra? Lovely building and a beautiful lowlight shot.
I had a chance to go either there or to the Hunter Valley.... Hmmmmmm, which to pick! As you can guess, I chose the Hunter Valley :)

Lovely pics this week everyone. Nothing from me this week, just getting back from vacation to find that the weather is in the 115 range and I'm too hot and tired.. I'll try for next week...

Anyone find a topic that they like? I'll give a vote to simplicity.

Mike -- It sounds as though you really enjoyed the beach.
The nests of morning doves remind me of pigeon nests: piles of twigs ready to fall at any moment! Never saw a baby dove before.

Monty -- Your alarm shot made me laugh. And I'm glad I missed that storm.

Welcome back, John.

Here's the beginning of a train. (Yes, I know it's a cliche, but I couldn't help myself.) :(

Looks like our new theme is "Simplicity."

I'll start the thread tomorrow morning.
Too tired right now.

Nothing cliche about it. That's one of the reasons I like these threads is that interpertation is up to the photographer. It meets the theme and is a nice photo to boot!

oh dear - you gave up a chance to meet up to go on the wine trails in the Hunter?

I don't blame you - I probably would have done the same :)

yup - that's Canberra.

Welcome back, John.
