What settings did you have?

I'm playing around with my S1 and I'm finding it difficult to get:
a) proper close ups (with blurry backgrounds)
b) landscape shots in the dark

Good question on the settings! It was my first day with the camera - either fully automatic or on prog (ISO 100?) It was rather bright out.
