How are you liking that S1 IS? I got my wife one for Christmas.....she hasn't used it as much as I would have hoped. :(

Loving the S1 IS so far. The auto focus in dim light put me off a bit at first, but I am playing with the settings to get around it. Overall a pretty great camera for the price ($311 US) The image stabilization really works and makes a difference - especially with zoom and lower shutter speed shots. I have hand held indoors at 1/10 sec and had no blurs.

Yeah, I have to say I'm pretty impressed with it overall, but like you the AF leaves a bit to be desired. Of course, I'm comparing it to my 10D and it just doesn't compare. What are you doing with the settings to get around the AF issues in dim light?

Read somewhere that if you go to Aperture priority mode, set the cam to 2.8, then set manual zoom at 10 feet, with the zoom extended all will be in focus from 4.5 ft to infinity? You can then save as a custom setting. I did that, but at maximum zoom the aperture automatically changes to 3.1 It does seem to work somewhat though. Just played with it last night, need to experiment more. I think the tips were on the Steves Digital cam forum. www.stevesforums.com (http://www.stevesforums.com)
