I have a question! I recently got a S5 IS. And in time the LCD when snapping it in place to the back of my camera to view and shoot photos with the LCD with it snapped in the back of the camera, in doing so...the LCD turns off and it is only viewable by the view finder.

Anyone with a S3 IS experience this? Or is it only a S5 IS glitch?

Take a deep breath and try to break that up into smaller sentences that may be a little clearer?

Lol, sure Jon.

When I turn my camera on, open my LCD screen..it works fine. But once I swirl it around, snapping it to the back of my camera...my LCD goes black and the DISP does not response?

Is the only way to get the external display back to shut off and restart the camera? What happens if you have the display exposed (either swung out or flush with the back) before you turn the camera on? Does it matter whether you're displaying shooting information or not? What happens if you are set to the EVF, open the display out and then switch to the external display? If you change to the EVF before you fold the display back, but visible?

Have you a "disp" button?--on the s3 it is on the right lower corner edge of the lcd "bed" if you will--pushing this will change how it displays. You cannot view both the screen and the viewfinder --only one or the other. You can have the screen--the screen with the histogram or the viewfinder --the viewfinder with histogram. I think the manual could give you an idea where to find such a button or feature option in your cam. Hope this helps!

I actually have the S5 not the S3. Wanted to see if any S3 owners had this glitch of a problem with their cameras. I have tried what you wrote up above, that doesn't do the trick.

I'm aware you can't view both LCD and view finder at the same time.

I have turne off the camera turned it back on still the same thing happens. It doesn't do it all the time, just every now and than mainly at least once a day.

It does not matter if you are displaying shooting information or not.

Once opening the LCD out out to the side of the camera...works fine, once you flip, twist, and snap to the back of the camera..the LCD turns off, and what you were viewing ends up being in the viewfinder, very annoying problem.

I am waitng for my camera to completely do it all the time before sending it back because If I send it back this very minute...my luck tehy will get the camera, send it back to me and tell me nothing is wrong, so i have to wait until it simply won't diaply the LCD at all.

Ok ....what about the auto rotate function---have you tried it off vs on? Not sure if that would fix it but it's a suggestion anyway---better than shipping it back to canon if you dont have to.

Does the sequence make a difference? From the screen folded out to the side does it matter whether you face the screen forward (as if to use it in framing a self-portrait) and then fold it to the stored position, facing out, or if you fold it partly in, then rotate it and finish folding it in?

I posted a video found on youtube, of exactly what it does above.
