I don't mean to cause a stink, but why do I see 100 pics of my dog, 100 pics of my kid, 100 pics of a flower, 50 pics of a bee on a flower, 200 mountainous landscape, 150 pics of a beach, 50 pics of sunset on a beach.....etc. It just gets so monotonous.

The images that really speak to me are of the human condition, extra ordinary people, very humbled people, or the like.

Of course technique is important, but to me an image that might be a hair out of focus, have an off shadow, or cropped a tad too tight...but still speaks to me is better than any of the all too standard stuff.

...I realize those may be the extremes...but those leave an impression.

I agree with you, but then I'm possibly going to be putting up 400 pictures of birds in the next year.

But seriously, you're right in saying that you, as the audience, are bored people put up their baby's pictures every day. I too get bored seeing tons of shots of babies and cats, but I too was excited when I took my first shot of a baby or cat (not literally - I get excited when I take my first shot of a hard to spot bird, which bores my girlfriend who thinks it's just another bird).

Also, not everybody is in a position to take shots that really document the human condition. I live in New Hampshire - right now it is wicked cold. People wake up, shovel the driveway, go to work, go home. If I were in Sri Lanka, on the other hand, I could possibly be taking amazing shots.

Horses for courses bud. Shoot what is important to you, allow and accept without comment that others may have different subjects in mind.
