i got a grip finally for my 10d (i dont know how i lived w/out it - ive had one on my eos a2 forever) and when i went to screw my flash bracket to it, it doesnt seem to get tight enough, which makes me think that perhaps its not as deep as the one on the body itself?

now ive got to either grind away part of the bolt i have or go to the hardware store and see if i can find something that will fit... anyone else run into this problem?

Ive just had a look at my 10D and the grip thread looks exactly the same depth as the camera body thread so It strange yours is any different.

looking at it and it actually being are 2 differant things - im afraid it might be off by an 1/8" or so... which is enough to not let me get my bracket on tight enough

What kind of flash bracket do you have? Some brackets, like the Stroboframes, require an anti-twist plate to keep the bracket from moving around, literally. Without the plate, you can tighten the screw all you want but the bracket is still going to twist.

i talked to the buyer at my store (i work at a camera shop) and some of the other staff - they seem to be hit or miss w/ ordering them - and a lot of people that i work w/ are in the same situation and use thin corkboard like that found on a coaster to solve the problem

so after some discussion w/ some of the other staff - a simple washer from home depot seems to be the best, fastest answer to my questions...

You are aware that "You know" is spelled as "You know" and not" Y'Know", right?

Y'know I spend a lot of time trying to answer questions, and I care enough for other people posting that I really try to answer with as much correct grammar and spelling as I can. If someone is having trouble with English then I understand that they are doing their best and are doing a lot better than I would if I was trying Finnish.

My point was that the poster obviously has something better to do than to TRY to write in proper English. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF I USED NOTHING BUT CAPS?

now if its the opinn of the site that too rite lke ths is ok thn itll sve me a lot of tym nw i spose i cld be riting lik ths and itss panefl to reed bt if thaats ok thn ths wll be of wth me

You know you've been online too many years when you can read that last paragraph without even skipping a beat...

And Mike, I have used a small washer on things connecting to my camera as well, seems to work just fine. I have a home made panorama setup and a piggyback mount on my telescope that both have a few extra washers on them, use different amounts of washers depending on the camera I am attaching.
